I have got a job to do that involves cutting into an existing 15mm copper supply pipe, as the customer wants the current stop tap moved from where it is to the front of the garage. Im unsure of the best way of connecting onto it. I wasnt going to solder as im sure water is going to continue to flow along the pipe even with the tap in the street 'off'. So I was thinking of just using a comp fitting wrapped in tape. But since it is going to be underground should I be doing it another way?

I would personally make sure the water is turning off fully in the street, even if it means asking the water supplier to fix the street valve if faulty. Then I would solder to the pipe & wrap in tape. But you can get plastic fittings for underground pipes, including 15mm which would be fine. Phimac do good fittings IMO. Just be careful the 15mm may be underground softer copper & would not be great just putting a brass compression fitting on it.

Hadn't thought about the soft copper. I was thinking of using plastic, Will have to see what the merchant has in.

Had you thought about using 20mm plastic from the copper? Would be easy then to just get a 20 x 15mm Plilmac connector & join them together.
