Hi People,

So, I'm looking to fit a new Monarch Midi HE water softener, upstairs bathroom suite, downstairs WC suite and probably replace the existing Telford 900x450 indirect grade 3 water cylinder, like for like. I'm doing this for my girlfriend, who has recently had a new Worcester Greenstar 18Ri Regular boiler fitted by BG. Lord knows, I tried to talk her into having a Combi boiler.

I'm currently in the planning and research stage, as I've no intention of starting the job until I have all the facts.

My questions to the community are :
Am I right in planning to run a new speedfit or Hep2o hard water feed up alongside the boxed in soil & vent pipe to the heating F&E tank in the attic ?
And, should I have any concerns about the affects of softened water on the copper water cylinder ?

I'm not a plumber, but I have fitted my own kitchens (x2) and a full bathroom revamp, including removal of old open vented system and emersion to knock through and build shower room.

I would be extremely grateful to the community for their thoughts, recommendations and feedback.

Kind regards CBR_Pilot

Don't forget that you will need to keep the ability in your kitchen water for "tap" water to be available.

Softeners are a great idea we have one, and live in a hard water area - no limescale anywhere!

Hi Murdoch,

Thanks for your recommendation, that is my intention. The beauty of the Monarch water softener is that it comes with a ready made bypass valve that incorporates outlets for drinking water.

Regards Nick
