Evening everyone.
I'm looking for a bit of advice. I currently have no central heating and am suspecting the pump.
My boiler is a Glow Worm Hideaway / Water tank etc. I'm not sure if its Y or S as there is only one motorised valve.
. initially I had no hot water / rads worked.
. Called BG who advised that I needed a new boiler / got a quote for replacement everything £6K3 <<eek>> Apparently I cannot have a combi in my flat.
. Day before yesterday everything sprung into life, boiler was noisy, but I paid no attention to it.
. This evening I find that the heating does not work, however the hot water is scalding hot. I assume this id from convection from the boiler heating standing water.
. Pump is not running at all. Its a Grundfos)
. After removing the large screw on the pump the spindle spins without any resistance which I take to be good.
. Water trickles out off the aperture which I assume means that there is not an air-block there.
. There is 240V to the pump and the capacitor looks okay if a little heat browned.
. Is it worth isolating the water and taking the 4 allen bolts off to check the condition of the rotor
So . . is the pump faulty, or am I missing something. I see little point in taking BGs advice if I can DIY or get a plumber in to fix it for me. I believe that I will be able to do the pump myself. Looks fairly straight forward provided I turn the valves off!
Many thanks in advance.
