Hello
just asking for some advice

Seem to have no water coming into house,
thought at first the loft was frozen, but no water pressure upstairs or downstairs, although do have water from headertank in loft. No running cold water upstairs but is downstairs, is that just gravity ?

I am guessing the pipe outside house (under the garden I guess) if frozen, can I check this anywhere ?.

Do i need to carry out any precautions for when the thaw sets in, not sure if pipe will bust ?

Alll advice welcome

Thanks Dawks

Hi. Turn the mains stopcock off. ?You may need to apply some warmth prior to turning off. When you consider a thaw has taken place, just crack the stopcock open a little, and check internal plumbing/pipework for bursts. Good Luck

Cheers

was thinking of switching off when away from the house and overnight, but leaving on when in house as I would hear water topping up header tank if it started to work (which is only 75% full), is that safe ? Are the external supply pipes usually Ok when frozen, or are they likely to split ?

The external supply pipe should be about 2ft 6in buried in the ground (but sometimes they are shallow and susceptible).

Anything could happen - you will just have to wait and see.
