Hi, cold from Camberley here.... Had a couple of engineers out to look at out system recently, but tonight sat in the cold again. So far, both have pointed to the motor on the diverter valve and changed the electrics on that. We have an Ideal HE18 combi boiler, almost 3 years old. The CH controler is a digi stat, which 'talks' to a RF Digi Stat box - if we turn up the desired temp on the controller, the RF stat box picks it up and sends a signal - or at least we can hear it 'click' and the green light comes on. The controller box will show a flame, but the boiler now does not fire up - it shows a O on the panel. I have tried re setting everything, power off the boiler, battery out of the Digi Stat controller, turning the controller down, then waiting and back up etc, but no joy.
Previously we had hot water, but CH was iffy, hence the focus on the DV, but now nothing.... Any advice welcome.....

If its showing O there is no demand and is more than likely to be the external controls and not the boiler
Does the the hot water work

Water pressure in the house seems to be fine, no change over past couple of months, and is usually strong.

The HW does not work not, there is no 'resistance' on the manual switch on the DV, so I cant force it to HW or CH as we could before. (Previously there was only resistance when water was demanded, so I could 'cheat; by running a bath to demand water, then push the DV across to get some heating.

I will take a look, not taken panel off before as have left it up to the chaps, but give me 5 mins....

What is this valve your describing ? In the boiler or not.
Is this a combi as you said or do you have a hot water cylinder ?

Sorry, i have a HW cylinder... There is no pressure valve (looked in the book, not the boiler itself).

As my previous post
External controls not calling for demand which Is why your boiler disPlay is 0

I have had the immersion on for about 45 mins, which as a lay person, (clearly), seems to have builld enough pressure in the system to allow me to manually put the DV to heating - no change on boiler as yet, but will reset electrics to see if it does anything.

So it seems you have a what we call a system boiler with your pressure guage and cylinder
Does your boilr have the word Icos on the front ?

Hooray for the icos!!! We need a dedicated forum for the wonderful ideal icos range. If pressure ok, sure it's not that dodgy pcb??

System description... Boiler Icos HE18, water cylinder up stairs, thermostat in hall with remote controller unit both by Drayton (Digistat +3) about 5 foot between sender and receiver unit - no walls. We also have a old controller that deals with the timing - but this is not used for the CH temperature, only the water on off times. (It was part of the older system we had swapped out 2 years ago). Its a potterton EP2000.

its a icos, its broke may not be the pcb as you have 0 on the display, but then again it could be do you own a axe?

Yeh best bet get a decent heating engineer/plumber but if all else fails gasmans axe is sharp as hell

Both ! The Ideal Icos / Isar are two of the worst boilers ever made.

Great news... I shall stear the engineer away from the DV then and poing him towards the boiler tomorrow. Appreciate your help.

I see, like that... Is the axe for the boiler or for the wood burner?

+ 1 axe aside you need someone who knows your boiler, mind most do its reputation proceeds it sadly we had a poll on here ages ago for the most unreliable boiler ever, it won, 3 times!!!
