vaillant 937 (the one with 20L of stored hot water)
its in a basement and the engineer has put a pump in for the condence, so far so good, but for both blow offs he's put an 18L tank under the boiler, then a waste pipe entering the tank at high level, the waste pipe goes to a macerator where any water would be pumped out

going to phone vaillant monday but this set up seems wrong (particularly now the macerator knackered) I've heard of PRV being attached to rads but I dont think a vaillant 937 is suitable for a basement install



I forgot there is a water softner using the macerator as well

Don`t know if this will help you but the little condence pump in picture 2 look like a Sanicondens plus which is ok to deal with the acid condensate (if serviced yearly) because it has a neutralising tray and the pump in pictures 3 & 4 is the Sanivite (not a macerator, no blades) which isn`t suitable for acid condensate. The vite will pump vertically 5m and horizontally 50m if installed correctly ie one and only vertical within 300mm of discharge elbow and no sharp 90 degree elbows in the pipe run. The vite could be knackered due to the membrane drying out and shrinking therefore the motor runs on continously.

Probably best to start from scratch then.
I made a mistake earlier as the Sanicondens Plus doesn`t have the neutralising tray but the Sanicondens Best does and has the option of a remote alarm, it will deal with mean temperature of 35 and occasionally up to 80 degrees C with a minimum pH of 2.5. Maximum vertical pumping height is 4.5m but as with all pumps you don`t wanna be running at near maximum all the time.

I would replace the macerator, add a second tank, have the outfeed in say 40mm fairly low, stainless mech on the outlet, add a bag of lime chips and say you have to be the one to service the set up.

could always move the boiler....

ITS NOT A MACERATOR!

A macerator needs whirly chopping blades. Sanicondense is just a pump,

All sani`s being called macerators where some don`t have blades as their not required to macerate water. Aplogises again m8.

blame ambrosia who described it as a macerator 😛

as for my suggestion of the tank with lime chips ignore it, read it again and see the condense is pumped (unless the pump is the sani unit)

Not fitted any myself but got given the info when I retook my unvented as they do a pump for T&P discharge.

I might add as the water softener will be hooked up, you could advice using that 18litre tank and submersible pump just for that.

that softener is going to add alot of work to a condense pump....

Jeez that`s a lot of dosh for a tiny pump but I`d be impressed if it really has a 8m lift capacity.
