i have an ocean alpha 240 eco and whilst on, the pilot light is firing up and down.

hot water, is hot and then cold, hot and cold, continuously. pressure was dropping, too.

been looked at by two engineers. from a company i pay monthly for cover of the boiler.

first one said nothing wrong, just cleaned it.

second one, as it was getting worse, said, that after looking at it for two hours, that although he could not find anything wrong, we should get a new flue installed and really, a new boiler, as this one is over 15 years old and has probably got to the end of its life.

he said the flame picture was excellent, the pump was in full working order and carbon deposit on the heater exchange. also, there was black stuff in the water.

he took the heater exchange out, cleaned it, replaced a washer.

and since then ite been working fine, and the pressure has remained stable.

do i really need a new boiler?

hi an welcome, if its working fine why change it, best to run it into ground,
might be a good idea to get filter installed which will help keep it alive
