Hi, has any one ever made a device to remove water and sediment from the bottom of oil tanks?

I use a suction and discharge pump, with an extended pipe. Similar to those used in garages to remove fluids.

Or you could use a vacuum cleaner! Got a number of steam engines which needed oil removing from sumps as they'd become contaminated with water, friend knocked up a collector using an old milk churn and two pieces of 1" pipe. One through the lid for a couple inches, the other through the lid down several inches. (when the lid is on it's pretty airtight). Attach vacuum to shorter pipe, hose from sump to longer pipe. Switch on vacuum and suck oil out of sump, with no chance of it getting into the vacuum. Works a treat!
