I'm a newbie to the site so go easy on me! The other day we had no hot water. I checked the boiler & the pressure seemed OK. I noted the micro switch on the front of the brass differential assy was stuck open and there is water dripping from the bottom, so I guess the diaphragm needs changing again (done this once already). That bit I can handle.

However I then pressurised the system up to 1.5 bar and turned the boiler off/on, then ran the hot tap. The boiler fired up but I could then hear this whooshing noise and the bar meter shot up past 3 bar? Then there was this loud clanging noise. I quickly turned the boiler off.

I let some pressure back off assuming that I may have overfilled the system and repeated the above, but only to find the same results.

I read it might be the pump has got stock and/or the noise might be "kettling"

any ideas? Thanks in advance

I should copy and paste this like croppie.
Are you Gas Safe Registered? You do know that you aren't supposed to be messing about with boilers if you aren't?
