Genuine request for advice. I work for Van Guard we manufacture pipe carriers amongst other van accessories (I am not selling, honestly, so wont go into detail).
Our pipe carrier has a capacity to carry up to 60 copper pipes the biggest capacity on the market BUT is that a capacity that is needed within the trade?
If not what would maximum likely requirement be?
Any input gratefully received.
Thanks
Andy

I expect most carry as little as possible so that as little as possible gets nicked when the hopeless "security" on tube carriers is broken.

soil pipe for me, but you mustnt hit the breaks or you scratch your nice sign written bonnet as it all keeps going

Id like a carryier with a long spady thing at the end to make it possible to pull out the short bits that are always down the front and you dont want to walk to the front opening to get it.

Pipe carriers are a magnet for thieves and hence IMO a really bad idea. Would never contemplate purchasing one, however good the manufacturer reckons them to be. Pipes are best hidden inside ones van under dust cloths etc to keep out of sight. All the plumbers I know in my area have done away with theirs.

mine is mainly 10 x lengths. maybe 15 maximum but to be honest its very rare I need that many and usually keep them inside for day to day use, its only when doing large jobs, dont want to have to cut it and solder it back together. hopefully santa will bring me a roof rack and a vanrack tube holder.

hint hint OP, if you were to send me one I could test it properly and give a more accurate answer though!!

theives round here like the ally ones bit more to go in the scrap i wouldnt put tube on top of a van and i dont know anyone who does any more apart from plastic

Still have loads down here on the coast. I did a quick check today (any excuse to go out for a "breathe of fresh air" *cough*) and I reckon about half our customers have a pipe carrier on the van.

i have two (rhino), what i would like is a larger capacity and alot better security, maybe alarmed. I dont carry much in them except maybe on the day im driving to the job, so i would normally have 3 lengths of 15 and 1 length of 22 in the one box and the other box its always full with waste pipe. infact i carry more none copper items in them.

i also like to carry lengths of wood, like 2x1 so the idea of a partition would be quite good. Maybe a big box with 4 sections 2xcopper and 2x waste/boxings/timbers or whatever you need.

I keep mine in a rhino and its never been a problem. Can't see it's very secure though tbh.

they make your van look more professional but for me its the cost buying one which i'd probably not use that much and the upped fuel cost of having it there..

cant really justify it, i can fit a few lengths in the van and if i need a lot i can have it delivered free..

A quick release model would be brilliant. I don't need mine on the van at all times, so being able to quickly unlatch it and stick it in the garage would be a great feature! It would obviously need a locking mechanism to stop anyone walking away with it.

As someone else said, dividers would be great, with one side plastic coated to stop PVC pipes getting dirty!

Same here TB, just the Ali, effects the copper or overflow, can't they be lined or divided at least? mines always stocked up, cannot be @rsed with merchant trips, all the boys have Rhinos and its used to advertise off too, stickered up etc!

We're both Yorkshire boys though. Don't have the hassles of these southern scumbags lololol
