bought a tub the othr day , changed a siphon an a toilet the other day , think there is a fault in the toilet as the doughnut wont seal, leaks everytime it gets flushed, and yes i did replace it with a new one, the hole in the pan looks out of shape a bit, it had silacone on when i removed it, would plumbers mait help?? also what do people use it for?

Used for basin wastes, bath wastes etc, toilet inlets, siphons.
Wouldnt use it for the donut.

Im more of an Lsx fan

Whn1 , fernox lsx? never thought of that, come to think of it ive even got a tube in the van! whats plumbers gold? never heard of it

Yes that little yellow tube, it's basically a faster curing silicone.

Never used pg myself, a few guys on here really rate it though.

only thing i find about the fernox paste is that i cant geti it out of the tube about 2 days after using it!! it jest goes off, end up having to do a hole in the side of the tube!!!

So true, the tubes split a lot too! My company have thier own merchants anyways so it's free for me.

yes at around £7 a tube in my merchant its a bit expensive! ive tryed everything , poking screws down it ect ect but it jest wont come out!

Plumbers mait will work on donut, if you think about what actually required of a donut, its not much, there's no pressure or force of water trying to penetrate.

Plumbers gold is top but prob overkill here, you run the risk of ruining the bog. At least PM will peel of next time toilet needs repair.

make sure you get the new close coupled kit with rubber washers for the bolts (screwfix dont supply washers)

clean all silicone off, replace kit and tighten, fill cistern and tighten again before flushing, works a treat.

the reason you must have the rubber washers is it tightens up a lot more without cracking pan.

Also I had so much trouble with screwfix ones, went to my local merchant and have never had a problem since

I sometimes use PM fashioned into a ring around the pan’s flush hole,
but arranged so the donut goes inside this circle and doesn’t touch.
