Went to a job today, no heating. Communal hot water so boiler serving heating only:

Potterton profile 30e
Put demand on for heating.
Pump was fine.
Gas inlet pressure was fine.
Fan wasn't running.
Opened up the case to make sure the fan could spin freely, which it did.
Put my meter on terminals and got zero volts.
Accessed the electrics and had 240v on mains to boiler, mains to pump & switched live.
Put my meter on fan, air pressure switch and gas valve on main pcb and got nothing.

My diagnosis was faulty PCB.

I tried calling my boss but didn't answer and my trainer's line was dead (no signal).

So I called it and left, recommending to change to boiler.

I should have called Potterton but I didn't think at the time.

Misdiagnosis?

Do they have a flow switch/pressure switch to detect when pump runs to then start ignition sequence?
Overheat stat tripped?

To be absolutely honest, I don't know. I did look for something but didn't see anything that resembled something I could reset.

I'm going to download the manual in a min and have a look.

i'd be more concerned of why your working on boiler, or why not in the gsr forum?

anyone else with you jay?, because really you shouldn't be working alone on gas as your still classed as a trainee

you mean, he has already (and employer) broke the law and jeopradised the gas license before he's registered?
surley not!

what do you mean what do you mean?

are you gas safe registered, and why do you have a trainer and working on a boiler on your own?

I asked what you meant as you referred to the forum, I thought you meant I posted this in the wrong subtopic or something.

He's not my trainer, just the guy I shadowed when I joined the firm a year ago. But he's my first point of call if I get stuck.

Oh. I was told something rather different to this but if this is the case then that's the last boiler I'll work on until I get on the register....
