Hi Guys,

I dont tend to get involved with a lot of boiler breakdowns but i have been asked to look at a few lately and im trying to get better at them, So please dont shoot me down im just looking for a second opinion.

I went to look at the above boiler today and the cutomer explained that there is an intermitent fault on the heating and hot water. When i first looked at the boiler i ran the hot water and it worked fine but then the hot water ran cold and "Flame Faiure" light was flashing.

I then Reset the boiler and the boier would not spark at all the sequence was, Pump Run, Fan Run, Pressure switch switching but then no spark. I have continuity checked the spark leads and there fine. Is there any way of testing the Electrode?

Im thinking maybe the ignitor assy is to blame as theres no spark? or am I barking up the wrong tree?

Any help would me greatly appreciated?

check for 240v on pcb to ignitor lead if its the boiler i am thinking of like baxi 105 thats all you can check for ignitor as the plug has a dc converter in it and you wont get a true reading at the plug end . lead about £25

Pull off one of the leads at the condensate see if that makes a difference? Could be a faulty trap or blocked condensate?

I've been looking online and checked at my local plumbase and I can't find the igniter assy spare anywhere. I'm wondering if that means its not that common to need replacing?

I've just looked back at older post, I'm more inclined now to thick its the air pressure switch.

What's do you mean by 30 and 50 light? Cheers mate

When you drop down the cover there's a line of lights that light up and down as the temp rises and falls, they also flash to help diagnose faults ... get your hands on the MI's and give them a read 🙂
