NO CLUE

Hi. I,m hoping somone can help me. We recently moved into our first home. It has a Potterton Combi. Performa 24i. All was well for a while everything worked fine. Then we suddenly notcced the boiler not heating water. On the panel the fan light is on. The boiler will not come on at all. The pressure was 0. So i managed to top it up to 1.8. It went up immidiately then slowly down. Did it again the same thing. No leaks anywhere. Our new neighbour is a heating engineer. He advised us it would want a new pressure vessel. The boiler has to be removed to fit it. Cost to us as were neighbours. £230. Does this sound fair.. And do you thing Diagnosed correctly.. Thanks in advance ....Charlie...

in regards to the pressure could be but has he looked at it? in regards to the not working fault its nothing to do with the expansion vessel your fan,aps or venturies are faulty but you need a gas safe engineer to verify which one is at fault

He is Gas safe registered. And he did look at it. Seemed to think because it has strage unit in the vessel. The vessel has leaked inside. I think he thinks thats all thats wrong with it though???
