Hoping someone may be able to advise on a possible reason for a problem I have with my Prima F boiler.

For about the last year or so, the bolier is failing to heat both hot water or central heating - however this problem happens every 10 days or so, lasts for about 72 hours, then returns to normal heat. During the 72 hour period the bolier lights up okay, the fan is heard, and water can be heard around the system of the house. However, the radiators are only warm to cold, and no heat can be felt from the tank upstairs. During the 72 hour period I have tried altering thermostat settings but nothing changes. Then, as if by miracle the heat starts and all hot water and hot radiators are present.

I am totally inexperienced when it comes to central heating systems, so any advise would be welcomed. I have suspected possible pressure issues (radiators have been bled in case), or some technical overheating issue. However, the fact that in continues to resolve itself is baffling.

Cheers for reading.

Hi Rick & welcome to the forum .... Call someone out the minute it seems to be giving you the problem I'd say 🙂 Sounds like you may have an issue with the boiler not lighting up every time?

Nothing you can do unless you're gas safe registered... 🙂

The boiler appears to light up exactly the same though. I will take your advise though, and get someone out as soon as the heat loss occurs. At least then they could check the pump also as Iain suggested.

Any idea on costs folks if it was the pump?

Depending on what pump I reckon 120 - 170. This is obviously dependent on a number of other factors. Do come back and let us know what the problem was.
