Went to one of these today no ht no hw. Gets there no pilot lit try's to light won't stay lit due to a tiny pilot flame, takes the injector out to clean and the piece of rubbish crumbled! Went to pts and he tried to give me a completely different injector, after a quick conversation he produces a complete pilot assembly with the the new style injectors on. Off I go happy as larry 5 min job all sorted! Only to find on arrival back at the job it didn't fit properly!!!!!!! :banghead:

Spoke to potterton who asked which way the burner blades ran, because apparently there is two slightly different permanent pilot pumas which have the burner blades running differently! The one I was looking at ( burner blades left to right) was obsolete and the part was for the burner blades running front to back!

Why do manufacturers do such things? I have never even seen the other variety! Anyone think of any other similar situations?

Ideal Isar diverters - 2 different types

The Pott housewarmer Brava Fire tap assemblies were a nightmare to get right!!!

Myson Midas had 2 different boards depending on the serial number

They're just a few off the top of my head!!! I hate it when you get to parts center and they ask you for the serial number :banghead:

vaillant do that all the time, gas taps on turbo max's are either honeywell or siemens, partscentre only ever have the one you dont need in stock

Seen it also on their plate heat exchangers, this stupid link thing made of rubber coming of the heat exchanger on a eco tec plus and something else i cant remember

If you need a part for a vaillant, best to take a photo with you to merchants

I hate it when you get to parts center and they ask you for the serial number
my local cityplumbers are terrible like that, "if you dont have the part number i'll have to check it on a different computer and i'll have to get the manager to give me access"

Wouldnt have been so bad but I had to wait 2 days for the part to come in when I could of collected the correct part on the day.
