Was called to a house as they said they had a leak. What it turned out to be was the cold water pressure relief valve on an unvented directly heated hot water tank was passing water through the tundish. I don't have an unvented ticket so advised the customer to get a plumber who has to fix the problem. I know how the system works and changing the pressure relief valve would not be a problem for me, however do I need the ticket or could I have actually changed the valve?

Mike. Finding the cause first is the answer. Although it is likley to be the valve. Things like access temp and a faulty pressure reducing valve can attribute to this observation.

Or just the expansion vessel pressure or bubble requiring to be restored.

As mentioned, working on an unvented cylinder and related components would require you to have unvented ticket.
