preventing rodents from getting into pipes/drain

View the thread, titled "preventing rodents from getting into pipes/drain" which is posted in UK Plumbers Forums on UK Plumbers Forums.

Hi,
a couple simple questions.
1. I have two pipes like seen on a attached photo in my back yard. One is for the waste from kitchen, the other one is for the waste from toilet/bathroom. Obviously rodents can easily get into them pipes.. is the any ways to prevent that?
2. And a second question: is the any way to prevent rodents from getting to the toilet bowl through the drain?
Many thanks.

Hard to tell from the photo but it looks like your options are pretty limited.

I can't tell if it's possible to reroute the kitchen waste pipe so it goes straight into the kitchen sink drainage, but that's what I would do.

There are various things on the market to install in pipes or over vents and drain covers.
No idea how effective or otherwise - or if they might interfere with operation!
Try Googling "Rat blocker".
