Has anyone else had a problem with the new mdf backed mermaid board.
Had the board professionally fitted although the fitted questioned the use of mdf backed board
Not even a week in and it is blowing on the joint
Wondering if the new style board is not fit for purpose

Used to fit a lot of multipanel when it was ply but have been told by numerous people to stay away from the mdf because of joint issues.

The joint issues I’ve heard about are the mdf not locking properly, this would cause water ingress and eventual blowing.

I am surprised this has happened in just a week. Even a poorly locked joint is protected by the silicone, unless none was applied?

Some photos would be of some help

I'm afraid to say MDF in a bathroom is a failure waiting to happen moisture will find even the smallest weakness and silicone just doesn't protect it just makes it more difficult to assemble and pull up and the joint remains visible, a marine ply backed board or a manufactured man made board fully waterproof even when submerged in water is a better choice theres not much you can do once moisture has blown the board 😕👍.
