Been to look at two boiler changes this week. Got to send off the quotes on the weekend.
At both the boiler is to go upstairs at the back of the house, one has a full width ground floor extension the other a full width conservatory with perspex/plastic roof.
Can the PRV be terminated back to the wall above these roofs?

If its turned back against the wall and theres a fair drop to the conservertory, i dont see a problem.

Now wait for the shouty brigade, quoting bs numbers and what not

use a nice little mushroom to look neat and tidy and water is all cool before it reaches any roofing

As long as the PRV is terminating safely ie. turned to wall there is absolutely no problem with this.

to be honest the only time you really see a prv doing much more than a dribble is when the filling loops been left o and then its cold anyway

Thanks chaps
Would be interested to know if there is a BS or reg its against.

From current BS 6798:2009

Specification for installation and maintenance of gas-fired boilers of rated input not exceeding 70 kW net

5.4.3 Pressure relief valve
...
5.4.3.2 The location and method of fitting the pressure relief valve shall be such that:
a) the discharge pipe for water or steam from the valve is metallic and falls throughout its length; and
b) the discharge is visible and will not discharge on to the occupants of the premises or on to any electrical components or wiring.

COMMENTARY AND RECOMMENDATIONS ON 5.4.3
In addition to the requirements of 5.4.3.2 the pressure relief valve should be located where its discharge is unlikely to cause damage to the premises.
It is essential that the pressure relief valve will not stick in the closed position and that it will reseal.
A pressure relief valve is not necessary for an open system.

As soon as the discharge hits the wall, the discharge temperature will fall and it shouldn’t damage the roof. I’d say you are good to go.
