I have a 4 storey farmhouse where the main house is heated from a oilfired boiler in the basement. Main pump is on the first floor. Additional pump has been added in the basement with second separte flow tapping from boiler to give two separate zones. All works well when all on together. Can I run the two pumps separate with one boiler? I am told that the power to each pump will feed back from the boiler as it is called into action from each zone. This must be possible! Any ideas?[/quote]

You need individual relays which would then separate the power supplies to the boiler and allow the boiler to run with either zone without backfeed to the other.

Can also be done using the auxiliary contacts on motorised zone valves if fitted.
