Ok guys, I'm OFTEC qualified etc but I would like to know how much extra work it is to install and commission a multi fuel Rayburn/Aga a customer has asked me to look into the possibility of doing this.

  • What extra controls are needed?
  • Do I need a HETAS guy to help?
  • Any other considerations?

Cheers

In UK mainland you will no doubt need to be Hetas to sign it off because it is solid fuel.

Usual things to consider -
Chimney quality (if existing) plus if height and location for drawing is adequate. Also may need liner.
Air ventilation in room suitable for output.
Then the usual plumbing problems - how it will be linked to system, Gravity pipes, heat leak rad, thermostic pump control etc on pumped rad circuit.
MIs will cover a lot

Yes you do have to be solid fuel qualified.

However you can be other than HETAS to do solid fuel, same as you can be other than OFTEC to do oil.

We chose NAPIT as they cover all our other technologies. 🙂
