Repairing a broken wastepipe

View the thread, titled "Repairing a broken wastepipe" which is posted in Air Sourced Heat Pumps Advice Forum on UK Plumbers Forums.

I need to repair this broken 40mm pipe which has broken off of the 40mm boss. Not quite sure of the best way to go here but I understand that these items are pretty useful but would removing the existing strap-boss prevent a straightforward installation. I guess the other option would be to cut into the stack and fit this.

Any words of wisdom would be appreciated.

If you can remove the old boss without destroying the pipe then option one will work well if the old boss is glued on and can't be removed then yes Option two will work Will work with a few additional soil pipe parts

Thanks for the responses, guys. Actually I left the properly with a flexi-con attached as a temporary solution (photo below). I am not sure if I can remove the strap without damage to the stack but I suppose option 2 will take care of any problem that might arise.
