Replace a Faucet Tap Handle

View the thread, titled "Replace a Faucet Tap Handle" which is posted in General Plumbing Jobs Discussion on UK Plumbers Forums.

Hi,
How can I remove the handle of the attached Faucet tap? I thought removing the screw will be enough, it is not. Thank you for your guidance.

Cheers

I think you've removed the correct screw, but suspect the knob is effectively 'corroded' on. You might try applying levers on opposite sides in the gap between knob and tap, and simultaneously prise them to push the knob off, but need to be careful not to damage the chrome!

I tried to remove it in vain. I'll have then to replace the whole tap
You could try heating the knob a bit, eg with a blowlamp, and hope the tiny amount of expansion before the valve gets hot might allow the levering to do something!
If there's a nylon or plastic splined part within, that may give up the ghost, but nothing much to lose if you plan to replace it!
