Hi
We are having our hall decorated and thought it would be a good time to replace the old radiator as we will have to take it off to access the wall behind. The central heating is a sealed system and the rad is supplied by micro bore pipes that come up through the wooden floor (photos attached)
The old rad is 1160mm x 700mm and the nearest I have been able to find at Plumbworld is 1100mm x 600mm so there is going to be a gap between the existing supply pipes & the new rad.
What would be the best way to modify the fittings so that the rad can be connected?

TIA

Phli

You could use you 1100 radiator snd replace the valves with drain off types. This will add 50mm to your rad.

You can get extended tailpieces. They are the chrome bits of pipe that connect the radiator to the valves.

That's a Myson roundtop standard radiator. They are made in metric and imperial sizes. Yours seems to have the threaded parts flush with the side of panels which means yours is a fairly modern version and you will still be able to get identical size which will still do on original brackets. There is a 27" high x 45" length Myson imperial radiator. Actual size of rad will be a tad over that.
Ask for that size - you can get a double panel extra (one set of convection fins) or a deeper double panel (two sets fins)
Try plumb centre

I tend to fit a larger rad and bring the tails from underneath to the rad ends, looks better imho

And allows insulation behind radiator if an outside wall. TRV might need setting tweaking but they still operate in a good airflow.
