S plan re-wire price?

Whats the going rate for a total re-wire of an S-plan with an unvented cylinder labour wise?

Good lord no.. I'am not getting some arsehole spark to do it.

When you say total rewire are you talking about running new cables to programmer, room stats etc etc, or just the wiring centre?

If all the cables have been run to the wiring centre, connecting up the S-plan takes minutes.

Strip out and test old cables and components 30-45 mins

Re wire cylinder stat and pump 25-30 mins

Dress and cut back valve cables/ strip new ends etc 10 mins

Wire everything up 1-1.25 hours

My sparky charges 4 hours plus materials.
Why bother doing it yourself?

To install replacement HW zone valve.
To install replacement CH zone valve.
To wire boiler correctly.
To drain system.
To install replacement automatic air vent.
To add inhibitor to system
To re-commission & check for correct operation.
To set up suitable hot water & heating program(for prolonged efficient operation)

Seem hell of a lot worse.

I hate it when you see a programmer on a patress box because you know it's going to be spaghetti junction behind.

Had a nightmare system this week. Instead of one wiring centre there were 3 seperate wiring messes on a Y-plan system.

Boiler kept clicking when central heating was switched off. Turns out someone had wired in the pump live from the boiler and the pump neutral from the programmer. Boiler didn't like that and a relay on the PCB kept clicking as though it was sticking. Putting the line and neutral for the pump into the same box sorted it.

Very weird and was scratching my head for ages. Was about to rewire it too!
