Done a bathroom, through a recommendation.

Everything went well until the last couple of days, as cust was hovering. Didn't help that the last metre of border, mosaics, had slumped and I hadn't noticed. He noticed, no problem, took them off and re did.

Then he starts on, oh the glass shower screen sticks out more at the bottom than the top and a couple of other little things.

Anyway the 1700 shower tray was 5mm out at the drain end and the wall was slightly out, hence the shower screen issue.

I got the feeling he his trying to come the ****. So I said no problem. I'll take it out and level it. Oh no cant do that, what about the tiling and the damage it will cause. Said it will cause no damage and am quite prepared to do it. He then says that he wants the supplier of the screen to take a look and he will let me know.

I've sent an email, to keep a record, saying I will take out tray and redo, regardless.

Not heard a word 🙂

I think you may have to call it ''a bad day at the office''. It's sad that you have made every effort to rectify and he just wants to look for an excuse to not pay? Hope you had arranged payment in stages? That way, all your labour effort is not lost

I hope he does so with no issues. Sometimes, it's just too stressful to take these muppets on.

Absolute joke mate. I thinks we've all been there though. Some people can't be pleased.

I always tell customers that you cant always have everything 100% and if they want everything 100% the lenth of the job and cost could possibley double,

old houses, even new builds you never have anything spot on square and level to start from

I think he was expecting me to go off on one, but I sussed it out quickly. I asked him outright that if he wasn't happy and he didn't want me to put it right where was he going with it. Long silence.

He left me a phone message, but I've emailed back saying that all contact must be written, to avoid any confusion. 🙂

-[putting tools away, listening to a niggle] you can't always have everything 100%
-what if i am prepared to possibly pay double?
-[taking tools out again] you can have everything 100%

Well quick update.

Sent my invoice reminders with an extra 5% as per t & c's and also trying to get him to say wether he will let me fix the 'issues' or not.

Gets a recorded delivery letter today full of bull.

Apparently he's had three people look at the bathroom and says its a shambles. No written proof though. Now requested.
Told me the whole floor and walls have to be redone and wants me to pay nearly 1500 for the priviledge. Does say though that he reckons the first fix is ok and he has valued it at 300, so only wants 1200 off me.

Once the steam had cleared I sat down and penned a response, emotion free (not easy), refuting all his allegations and claims.

Resent a copy of the invoice with a must be paid by so and so or its small claims court that could result in ccj, removal of household goods, application for committal to prison, charging order against his house or an application to bankrupt him.

Any shortfall will be passed to the nasty boys debt collectors.

He didn't owe me any money do not the same

I hope you take the idiot all the way if he refuses to pay

Any pics of the work? Not for me but your fight?

I have a bad hunch about the job i done yesterday , not as much owing as you tho .

Its annoying because the law doesn't protect the business enough imho

Its a bummer Si.
Damn Shame we have to suffer arses like this.
Hope you get sorted.

I now tend to take a rolling photo gallery to assist me should i ever suffer the same issues.

I had one where i fitted a boiler on the right hand side of an upper floor bathroom.
They were in the phone saying since i had been a damp patch had appeared.
When i got there it was 4 feet away on the left hand side of the wall.
They were insistent its only happened since i put the flue in.
It was their roof - they went forth

The thing is its all hindsight , you would go in with a massive tick sheet and a mass of T & C's which would scare most customers off.

How long do you guys wait before you decide enough is enough lets start getting serious on chasing the money?
