apologies if this seems like a repeat of many other threads however having reviewed several they do not seem to have the same scenario:
own a house built in 1890's with sewage smell very strong in downstairs toilet. Plumber detected bad connection between toilet and waste pipe, this has reduced the smell (previously felt sick when entering bathroom) however the smell is also appearing in upstairs hallway and in ground floor hallway. We are currently renovating the house and have removed both upstairs bathrooms, neither of these smell. The house has a crawl space which is accessable however having sniffed in two locations in different rooms there is nothing. So I am getting concerned as to where the problem could be and have some questions:
would the smell be strongest near a drainage point i.e sink, etc
any ideas why the smell is upstairs when the bathrooms are taken out and the bathrooms do not smell?
thanks in advance..
