Should I use a Viessmann trained installer?

View the thread, titled "Should I use a Viessmann trained installer?" which is posted in UK Plumbers Forums on UK Plumbers Forums.

Hi,
I want to get the 16kw Viessmann Vitodens 100-W open vent boiler installed - straight swap with my existing boiler. As i live in Inverness there's no Viessmann approved/trained boiler installers in my area, the nearest ones are in Aberdeen which is a good 100 miles or so.

I've got some local quotes from reputable installers in Inverness but none of them have ever installed Viessmann boilers before but they say more or less all boiler installs are the same and i have nothing to worry about. I've found one Viessmann approved installer in Aberdeen (aberdeen heating) who will install the boiler for me at an identical price incl travel costs. For peace of mind should i use a Viessmann installer or does it not really matter? Out of interest does anyone know if Aberdeen Heating are any good?

Thanks 🙂

I would say do not put one in,,go for a make that is used locally and has local support..the boilers are good put not so good to risk the lack of back up...if it breaks down, the approved installer will not be able to pop and have a look ,he and you will have to go through Viessmann...parts will be a problem also..I would suggest you step back and have a re think....you could be left days or weeks with a break down with only the thought of a slow responsive 10 year boiler cover to warm you up....

It comes with a 5 year warranty, I've fitted loads without a problem and think there a cracking boiler.....any gse would be able to sort a problem out......

PTS stock Viessmann parts and there is one in Inverness... I really don't think getting parts will be a problem, and they are excellent boilers IMO

I am sure any gas safe guy can fit you one and still give you the standard 5 years , just check with viessmann about the 10 year ( appologies stussey i dont know , you may be right )
i am viessmann trained , fit one you will not be dissapointed.

Yeah, 5 years as standard (whoever fits it) and if you are a Viessmann trained installer you can offer them the 10 year warranty (at a fee). Instead of registering the appliance through gas safe you register it through your Viessmann installer portal and then they do the rest (including pay the charge) and send out the extended warranty offer.

Cheers , the portal is great, i haven't had anybody take up the extended warranty yet , mind you i dont ever push it

Thanks for all the info.I think i'll use my local installer in Inverness to get the Viessmann fitted. To get the 5 years parts & labour warranty, do i have to register the boiler on the Viessmann website or should i get the paperwork for this from the installer?
Cheers
