What smart controls are guys going to fit to comply with the new regs starting from April. Is the there a relatively simple one for say elderly people who just want basic controls? I fit viessmann and the RF programmer they sell is so simple perfect for people who just want ‘on/off’

Thanks

Pain in the backside only applies to combi boilers & from what I understand customer has no option , has to fit one of the new controls or face a 5K fine ,

Just means another big price rise in on the cards ! cost of boilers and controls is bound to increase , Next thing we will have to do a course for it , renewable every 5 years of course.

Yes you're right, another 5 year renewal due.

I bet you're as impressed as me when you sit these courses too?

You come out full of coffee machine powdered crud and know nothing more than when you went in but fully equipped with a lightweight wallet.

Rant nearly over !

I was under the impression this is on new installs only. Old people only change boilers when they completely have to.

What’s the point of fitting a controller that completely baffles anyone older that 60???

So all new combi boilers installed from April must have smart controls ?

How is this going to be regulated?

Apparently by building control, I can see a lot of bench mark paperwork "Getting Lost" they will send out some university graduate who hasn't a clue what they looking at to inspect the jobs

This probably not great news either for the little man.
Pushing the cost of install up will drive more business to the big boys.
That's been on the cards for years, they want us out ! when that happens people will be paying 6K + for a boiler change £300 + for a service

Boiler plus. I believe offers 4 options, weather comp., flue gas recovery, smart controls and load compensation.

I've heard some talk about boilers already having load compensation as part of normal operating. Although this has yet to be confirmed.

Time to go back to heat only boilers 😉

After the last few days its time to go back to the good old permanent pilot back boiler.

Mothers house still has one over 30 years old only ever had a pump and timeclock.

Yes, and when you look at her gas bill it won’t be any more ridiculous than any one else’s.

In fact, my money is on it being less!
