Smell from lifting station

I had a Sololift2 D-2 installed to move wastewater from a sink and shower. It was installed under a cabinet and whenever it is used there is a smell which comes from the pump. I notice it has a venting valve which just vents into the cabinet. I am considering hooking the venting valve to a pipe and putting that through an exterior wall to vent into the ambient. Would this be the correct solution?

It has been actively used for less than a year. I opened it up and it seemed fairly clean.

Well if it isnt the Grundfos then clean the shower trap out.

It doesn't seem to be the trap. I think it is sewer gas coming up from the drainage line after the pump.

The outlet pipe from the pump has a non-return valve so unlikely to be that unless it is fitted horizontaly where the valve may not be fully closing. Can you get your nose over the air vent to be certain from where the smell is coming and there is no harm in adding a cleaner via the shower waste along with hot water to flush the system and pipes through.

Well I havent heard a D-2 for awhile but I`m thinking that there is something wrong there. Any household brand liquid cleaner will do as it wont be inside long

Do you know what is meant by the venting valve? I emailed them about the part number but they have not replied. The graphic makes it look like the pipe just sits there.

As far as I remember the valve is underneath the lid and closes if the pump tank is about to overflow with water ie power cut. If as you tell me the tank and the traps on both basin and shower are clean then venting isnt required.
The diagrams show cutting a hole with a stanley knife and using a 20mm pipe as a vent pipe.
