Long story short my bank contacted me on Wednesday by telephone saying there had been suspected fraudulent activity on my account use my debit card and as it turned out the last 3 transactions I did not recognize ( one in America 2 in Ireland) hence they cancelled my card and issued a new one.
I got a call today whilst out at work and the security/fraud prevention department had put a block on the new card (before I even received it) as it had been used this morning in an ATM but the wrong pin was used 3 times. They said on the phone that the card has been intercepted and that some body had tried to use it
All seems quite possible. So I get home from work and the new card is in the post in a sealed envelope so obviously not intercepted. Barclays is the bank
