Hi guys

Had a look about & couldn't really find my answer.

I'm moving a toilet to a new location within a bathroom which will require me to tap into the 4" cast at a lower level than the existing waste. The cast pipe is external & so coring & piping to the cast in 110mm soil ain't a problem but what is the easiest way to cut into the cast & what type of branch would I need to go from 110mm plastic to 4" cast? I may have another problem as there is an inspection more or less where I want to tap in.

Thanks in advance for any info!

Make sure the existing pipe is adequately supported then cut the cast above the existing branch with a stihl saw and dig down to the clay drain connection (it won't be deep). Use a timesaver collar to connect to the existing cast and fit a new bit plastic down to the drain with the new (access) branch. Do it all in timesaver if you want to keep it as cast.
Btw that looks like 3 1/2" cast. It will be on it just below a collar.

You'll not be able to joint into that, nothing suitable.

Replace the stack is the normal solution.

Cheers Tamz. You might be right with it being 3 1/2". Other than the branch that's above the inspection (Which is the existing toilet) nothing else uses the stack. I could cut it higher than the branch & replace it with a new soil & inspection. I think timesaver collars would be the way to go Cheers again!

Why? Cast iron pipe and fittings are readily available as are plastic and adaptors for same. Maybe not possible for some of the newer guys who have not learned cast iron work and the more traditional methods and materials. Judging by the finished photos, the op made a good job of it.
I'd hate to get a quote from you pal....rip it all out and renew the whole lot!!!!!
