months back I got asked to install a 2nd hand grant combi, should have run away then!! So visited the site, discussed options and off we went, customer wouldnt agree on siting of oil tank, as original was so wrong (against house under eaves etc etc), so eventually put it close to field boundary closer to the house than I wanted as just inside regs distance. Customer was thinking of converting garage so she agreed to build new outer wall to meet building regs on old single skin wall, so in went ext boiler on new plinth allowing space for new wall, oil line left ready to bolt to wall. Old single pipe system wasnt upgraded, too costly, but new s plan set up with room stat and programmer to meet regs. Took a while but got it all balanced and working fine.

Along comes another plumber to do bathroom, fits rad in old garage and nothing now works!!!!!!!!! All my fault so now got grant tech and oftec saying its an illegal install and am awaiting an oftec letter!! Customer never built the outer skin wall, the conversion had no planning or building regs and I am now stuck in the middle of a nightmare scenario that I advised the mad woman would happen if she went ahead and botched in a conversion. Seems the other builders damaged the oil line which then weeped but its my fault for putting it where she wanted!!!!!!!

Anyone else been down this wonderful path of having to prove your being stiched up!!

not a good place to,been there Jonathan but proved to be a spurious claim,did you get them to sign any sort of cert saying the wall was not built?not your fault if the lines been damaged by a third party

just got a snotty letter recently from the woman, claiming I'll be paid when things work, but she has shafted my builder for £600 and me for £280 owing for final payments, he will back me up, I got so fed up I called up building regs last week and reported all the work she hasnt had notified, bit of fighting fire with fire, so they are on their way there, I advised 2 of them if males as she is the sort to accuse you of molesting her to prove a point. I never went on site after the first few days without another lad there, as she was really weird when she got stressed with all her kids, she had numerous exes!!!!!!!! My only real naughty is I havent notified the install, and wont till I and my mate are paid in full so they can have me on that, but I told building regs and they werent unhappy at all 🙂, as the guy said, she hasnt reported any work so your misdemeanor is the least of the problems at present

re the wall, the daft mare built a stud wall in the garage after I left as it was cheaper according to her chippie, mind you he didnt seal the outer skin and put the studs hard on the outer wall so now the plaster board is all going mouldy according to a mate 🙂

In fairness the likes of build control etc etc are pretty clued up enough to know what goes on with customers vs trades .

They will have her demolish the conversion if they are not happy simple as that
