This is a picture of my sons sink plumbing. The yellow arrow goes to the dishwasher and the red arrow goes to the washing machine. There is a problem with waste water going from the sink, into the washing machine I guess because the pipe, right on the elbow isn't high enough.

I have tried to find some kind of non return valve to plumb in here but have come up with nothing at all.

Can anyone suggest a better setup than there is here please?

If more pictures are needed I can get some.

Thanks, Daniel.

The dish and washing machine pipes should rise as high up as they can ideally just under the top of the sink and then back down if they need too

Also double check you haven’t a blockage in the pipework downstream of the trap / check the trap

any thing that comes out of that rh pipe will go down that pipe.
can you rejig it so it flows into the down pipe below where the dish washer goes in.

Put an appliance trap with two appliance spigots on one sink, and a plain p trap on the other sink. Then tee them together into the existing pipework, it’ll take up a bit more cupboard space but give you fewer problems. (I have my two sinks each with a p trap and separate pies through the wall to a gully, it’s the most trouble free set up I’ve ever had- so if it’s simple to do there, copy me!)
