secret squirrel
I was at a job today, the customer has a four bedroom semi detached house in a relatively good part of town. Four kids, one about to leave school, one at uni and two already left.
Having a chat as we all do, good customer relations etc. The customer explained that she'll find out if she can keep her house in a couple of months. Turns out that she is upset that she will loose her benefit if her son doesn't go to college.
A couple of questions later turns out she'll loose approx £180 per week. Thats right in excess of £9k per year + other benefits. I enquired after what work she did and shes a self employed cleaner. I said you must have uni charges to pay for your daughter, apparently, all fees are paid for.
I stopped talking to the customer, carried on with my work, charged her and left.
There are a few posts about this sort of thing. I do find it so depressing, how many of us are or have been struggling only to find things like this. Just damn hurtful really.
OH, I'll be writing my cheque out next week for the tax man, thats right I didn't earn anywhere near £9K in my first year. And I'm not entitled to a bloody penny.:13:
