Had a job cancelled on sunday only to be told to crack on with it today so i thought thumbs up back in business.

Was cracking on with the rip out of heating circuit and the their choice of builder turned up had brief chat and he's their to do bathroom and kitchen.

Got the usual carp from him that he's the best at everything theirs nothing he can't build blah blah blah

Then he starts on about gas boilers how he fits worcesters as first choice and vaillant as second option .

Convo goes on and he starts on about landlord certs he does and repairing boilers , so i ask where he done his training ?

His reply what training? I am not gas safe never will be don't need it to work in my own home so why do i need it outside of it? Then he says he was going to do the heating on this job but was obviously to busy with bathroom and kitchen.

Not overly happy about this but thought sod him only here for few days .

later in afternoon he's asking where I'm placing gas boiler as he wants to tee off supply to run new hob supply in .

WTF the issue here is gas safe won't do anything and my concern he will connect in hob after i have registered boiler as in and safe, if he leaves an issue then chances back to me.

this today showed how irrelevant gas safe are to most builders

Won`t your copy of the bill say what work you did and cover you? Sorry if Im being dumb here. Also is it worth a quiet word in the customers ear re a Gas safe check on him?

Im not gassafe but some of these builder/kitchen fitter types seem to have no shame whatsoever and always seem to be nipping yer ear for advice or to cadge fittings I would get shafted if I done final connection on gas work but joe public gets away with it because seemingly I should know better..brum

Write out a gas check form stating the boiler you've fitted and any others on site.

Underneath cross out out all the other boxes with "no further appliances" so they can't be added at a later date.

At least you'll have a record that no cooker was present when you leave.

You could even take a photo of the kitchen work on the way out.

I would take photos my self of everything like where the hob should be the gas pipe etc. report it to gas safe as well after you have finished. Write out a cp12 and put on it boiler installation only no other appliances in property. I should think you would of covered yourself then.

what a nobber,
depending on whether you can be arsed or not. why not try quiz him subtlely as to what jobs he's done and where. maybe go have a look at them with a view to reporting the tosser telling his cust he's unregistered and you have seen his dangerous work. for what its worth i would still send his details to gas safe stating he openly admits to doing gas work unregistered at least then its on public record.
