Anybody used trac pipe for an underground/outside pipe run? if so what was your experience/ opinion of it? If not what is your prefered method of running pipework in the ground outside?

thanks,

Adam.

The yellow plastic, polyethylene pipe but its not uv protected so have to change to another material when coming out.

did you have to cover up the fitting? or put the fitting just below the surface tony?

ive got a 4m total run to do from one wall to another to get around a window and door. i can get a 5m x 28mm length of trac pipe, which will probably work out the cheapest option tbh but am looking at all options.

The fittings are iron with a rubber lead look ish type seals with a male iron on the end so just use a 3/4" female iron to copper. I usually fit them just above ground so you can get to them again.

I used 54mm trac pipe on a job it is really easy to use, just remember to wrap the fitting with the tape that's provided after testing and remember to leave the fittings accessible!

did you use any form of grp sleeve to the bottom of these fittings to protect em?

thanks for the advise. Ive fitted a fair bit of trac pipe but never in soil. the good news for me is somebody else is digging it out 🙂

Literally a little bit of plastic pipe poking out. The fittings usually come with inserts.

Well if some else is digging the hole it will be a piece of you know what. I have also done it with the plastic. Both as easy but the plastic will be cheaper

Have used both and i would say i quite like the tracpipe and now do fittings directly to copper. No issues with uv protection either, we had to buy 4m of uv barrier last time for the two foot required

I've used trac pipe under ground was fine, easy to use.

you don't have to worry about protecting it when you are above ground

Do you need a ticket for fitting the yellow plastic, I've seen it done and it doesn't look too hard but that doesn't mean there isn't a special wee course for it haha

If it was a straight 4m run i'd probably do it in galvy MI. 30 odd quid for a 6.5m length and 2 bends and 30 minutes cutting 4 threads and screwing it together.
Trac pipe will be easier tho. You can do it in copper if it is coated or wrapped.

i did considerd steel as the exisiting 3/4 supply is in a wrapped steel, but i want an easy life and i know the drainage system will probably make it an unstraight route.

a coil gives me a easy life also , and i wont get to dirty 🙂
