Hi
I don't know if anybody in this forum advertises with them or have been ripped off by them, but stay clear!
Just been told i owe them £2225-00 because I didn't let them know in writing( 60 days before our contract ran out) that I wanted to opt out! got one lead of them in 6 months.
I will try my best to get out of contract but the small print confirms my lack of brain power to READ AND READ AGAIN BEFORE SIGNING ANYTHING!!!!

Just wanted to get that off my chest....was really hard not to swear
Any ideas would be appreciated.
Conrad

I would be surpised if this 'contract' was actually legal - presuming they spun you a load of old tosh about '100 leads a day' . . . .

I had this situation once and just told them to take me to court. needless to say I never heard from them again!

Just tell them to get stuffed or ignore . . .

These phoned me yesterday, I must get one a week claiming to be able to get me to the top of google.

I always say no as I think they are all going to con me.

one thing I will say is that the said company are very convincing and sound very professional, I googled them yesterday as well to have a look.

I hope all goes well, there is enough stress in this job as it is without company's popping up every where trying to con you out of money.

They talk the talk, send you info packs until you sign the contract. Then it is weekly calls for more ads and premium ads, top of the list ads.

Then they wait.... Until you are automatically signed up for another year because you forgot to cancel the contract 60 days before it ended.

Then they hit you with a bill 5 times more than the previous year!

Going to citizens advice bureau on Friday morning . Hopefully they can help

I wouldn't pay them, nothing but common chancers. That cannot justify that cost at all. I'd hardly doubt they would pursue it

In the contract or during the sales speil, will have been reference to how many leads you would get from them in a given time, if so, chances are they breached their own contract, if not, they cannot justify charging for something that does not work, tell them you want a copy of the original contract, with your signature on it, it doesnt matter if you have one, they still have to provide it, bet you they dont send one, then tell them to take you to court.

Threaten them with Trading Standards for selling false promises of work and I bet they back down. Personally I'd just tell them to go do one on rhemselves.

It actually sounds like they could be a by product of ufindus who were taken over by Yell if I recall correctly, ufindus were also a bunch of thieving not nicers!

even better - just send them a 'without prejudice' letter saying you are going to take them to court for breach of contract ie: every penny you have paid them plus legal fees and so on . . .

In fact I was just in court recently because a company broke contract with me and now I am £1000 richer!!

Three cheers for the small claims court - hip, hip, horrayy!!!!

I signed up with 118 118 a while back they said I could cancel after three months if it didn't work and get a refund on any money paid when I cancelled after not receiving any phone calls they denied all knowledge of anything the salesman had told me and they demanded the whole years payment immediately, I told them to do one and every time they rang i refused to pay a penny I badgered them as much as they did me and eventually got a full refund.

Don't pay them a penny they're thieving scammers

Really interesting – I worked for a company like ufindalocal few years ago I would spend all day ring plumbers saying we offer advertising all I got in reply from customer was I’d better get business form you or I’ll make sure your never get a another customer by posting poor feed back .. before signing an agreement read the small print if you’re not happy speak to company or don’t renew … one other thing I’ve been rip off by plumbers , builder and electrical traders over the years either because of my colour or fact that 50% of trades people are crooks… hasn’t stop me using trade people.. remember if don’t sell you go out of business too many business forget this simple fact , I don’t sell to trade people any more you want everything for nothing

Any decent company doesnt need to use small print, they are open and honest in their business operations. I know my advertising works as all I ever get is cold calls from people like yourself who have seen my ads trying to flog their own. I have a proper trade to offer the public, companies that cold call are just parasites in my mind. You seem to have a small chip regarding race and creed and I am sorry for you if you have been ripped off but it works both ways.

Hi just had a call off them saying the same thing I only paid about 350 first now they want 8000 its all bs

Hi, I've just joined, because I've a son-in-law with a sub £1M turnover joinery & building business and he has been 'had' by ufindalocal's extremely aggressive telephone tactics. He's got no 'admin staff' and so he's as busy as a one-armed paper hanger (which I'm sure is why he was targeted by them). I'm an almost-retired company director, so I DO have the time to take up the cudgels and have a go at these people. I believe that there's safety in numbers, so if anyone on here has been 'had' by them please PM me, as I intend to take this up with Office Of Fair Trading and Trading Standards people, as well as the Small Claims Court. Thanks in advance.

I have just joined after reading your posts, they asked me for 4.5k for another year, although I have had no work at all from them in the year, they also said if I didn't pay by 5.00pm today they would send the bailiffs around, they were very aggressive, the FSB have stated that I should state that I want to cancel due to a fundamental failure in performance. I have been in business a long time and I have never met such a bunch of con men, if you are talking it up with the OFT or trading standards then please count me in.

Just show up to the con artists office tomorrow morning... In your van... I bet there not so demanding face to face!

Count me in if required, currently got the same thing happening also, paid approx 500 in june, guaranteed 1 lead per month, for first contract taken out (one area) and three leads min. with second contract which covered 5-6 additional towns. Immediately regretted it, website looked v basic and had the same drivvle as everybody elses - wholesome, family run, long established, highly skilled, (I never knew there were so many wholesome, family run, long established...etc but apparently according to ufinda there are), anyway suffice to say, as of yet not one lead. Within days I'd opted out of automatic renewal, whole thing didnt sit right. My opt out was confirmed. I went on the basis of put it down to loss and forget.

Got call this week saying straight away i owe 6500 for services but will get discount if i pay instantly, my opt out was, as far as they were concerned was for upgrade services? but i obviously didnt have p/w in front of me to confirm. Any way i listened intently to what they were saying/ offering, and just knew from certain comments i was getting pressurised into caving in and agreeing to pay lesser amount (2500 by this stage) I repeatedly told him i declined the offer, to which he seemed to think i was being ludicrous for "being a renegade and trying to fight a big corporation" who "employed highly trained barristers", I assume to deal with peasants like me. I could tell from that he was agitated that i'd not complied and seemed unhappy that i'd taken 33 mins of his time, because i didnt comply like the "other people in 3-4 mins" . I know this has been a lot of reading for you but i think the small details make are key, there are a lot more details if you want them - let me know

as a consequence of this i sent them an email requesting transcripts of all recored phone conversations, to confirm their pitch of the guaranteed leads etc. First response had dummy pdf file attached, second response had only a snippet of a conversation basically confirming adresses, emails, etc and some ts' and cs'. Have just clearly requested again for full conversations specifically the primary conversation with the pitch

This thread feels like one big joke.

If I have paid for a service that never materialised in any way that was promised to me and then the company started hassling me for money, they would never get more than one conversation with me on the phone from then.

Any standing orders etc will be cancelled.

They can threaten with bailiffs all they like but bailiffs can only do so much.

If they have not kept their end of the bargain then they don't have a leg to stand on.

All dd/ credit card were cancelled, fraud alert put to bank etc.
however if you read the messages you would see Rudolph-hart looking for trades in similar situation to his son in law to bring to the attention of official channels. They are chancers and as of yet no attempt to obtain money made. Purpose of request for phone conversations to see their willingness to release proof of false claims by themselves eg leads etc. as difficult as it may seem, some people do pay under the duress of this company. I believe, as previously stated by himself, Rudolph-hart is trying to make an effort to stop this happening to others and therefore asking for other versions of events and therefore a stronger stance. It may seem like one big joke to you but I can assure you that to the people who have, unlike myself, continued to pay out it isn't a joke!
