Vaillant ecotec plus 831 problems

Did you check the plastic filter that sits in the brass manifold, directly behind the low water sensor? It always blocks and causes hot water issues.
You'd need to remove the low water sensor and flow pipe from the primary heat exchanger to get it out.
Part number is 179030 i think... But might be different for different Ecotec models?

What do you mean by the pump seals had gone? And how could you tell?

Sorry for the late one, I checked the pump seals by removing the bleed screw and rather than a little bit of water coming out loads of water did.

Plastic filter had degraded, I think that was what started the blockage in the first place.
