Hi guys,
Went to have a look at a Baxi Bermuda 50/5 inset fire today. customer saying it wont light,
when i got there he had no MI,
what was happening was when i pressed the ignition button the solenoid opened and let gas through to the pilot (the solenoid made a right noise but apparently its always done it) the spark electrode began its sequence of about 20 sparks but no ignition,
i put a naked flame to the pilot (thinking the spark wasnt strong enough) but the gas was coming from the pilot with some speed and just blowing the flame out, the pilot didnt even come close to lighting,
there was definatley gas coming from the pilot and the customer was sure that no gas work had been done at the property so that ruled out un purged gas pipe.
my thoughts are its either a faulty gas valve/solenoid (opening to much and letting to much gas flow to the pilot) or the pilot is faulty/unrestricted.
i am not familiar with these fires but i couldnt see anywhere for the pilots gas flow to be altered which swayed me towards the gas valve,
i ended up having to walk away because i wasnt 100% sure
do any of you fellas know what it could have been or have you come accross this before?
thanks all
James
