Watching fred play unders 7's football. It must be near freezing, my face is blue and I finished my Starbucks half hour ago! Remember the days when you laid in bed all weekend snoozing and doing nothing?!

Yes geezer......after wine and beer last night , its 09.30 and i've just fallen out of bed!

Lucky man TT! I just had time for bacon and egg before rushing off to football at 8.30. More football at 12pm then swimming at 3pm. Im like a taxi service here!

Still in bed. Woke up about 0900 to a phone call. Listened to the voicemail....
Sounds abit windy, so I think I'll stay in bed a little longer....
Football focus is on a 1215 so I'll obviously have to get up for that though. Oh and my breakfast

I'm so glad my son has decided he doesn't like football anymore. The amount of times I've been stood in a field the rain/sleet/snow has been belting down and the wind howling and no matter what I wear I could not stay warm!

was in exactly the same situation this morning, freezing cold, snow blowing accross the pitch, me playing ballboy to my daughters under 10's cup match just to keep warm. Oh what joy!!!
but they got through to the final winning 2-1 on penalties after 0-0 extra time.
so makes it all worth while:50:

Fred's team lost 4-1. Didn't help that three kids refused to play half the game because it was too cold! Freddie loves kicking a ball so I can't really moan too much.

Typical of the kids of today, not playing because it`s too cold !!!!

Mate you should hear some of the parents yelling at the 6 year old kids. It makes me cringe. Some of those kids really hate playing football!

That`s true, some kids hate it when the parents are screaming at them and wish they weren`t there at all watching.

Don't miss those days. Daughter used to play for bradford city girls bloody awful stood out there in winter on a sunday morning when you would rather be tucked up in bed.

never did football, my lad was into Rugby, they had all their matches in the early afternoon, civilised 🙂 mean't you spent the afternoon in A&E with his broken arms!!!! used to make a horrible snapping noise and I always recognised his squeal of anguish from the bar in the club 🙂 twice I had to drive down the A3 to Pompey with him winging next to me, on the 2nd occasion he told the plod who pulled me over to poke off and held up an arm that looked somewhat dis-formed, got to say the plod told us to follow him to hospital, the nipper kept asking me to pass him as he thought he was to slow!! however we made it in very good time in my books. He got another op and an overnight stay, I got off a speeding ticket

And the managers! My sons last game the ref had a go at the manager of the other team as he was shouting at the team and basically telling them to foul if it meant they could win the game! It was 7-1 to them by this point! He also accused the linesman of cheating because his team were constantly off side it was only after 4 people 1 of which was a parent of one of his team said he was right every time he shut up!

To be fair the coaches are all parent volunteers and I take my hat off to them. They give up their time each week and get very little thanks for it. A couple of the kids are a class act and have real natural talent. Not sure if that comes from the pushy parents or not.

well Lucy is the goalkeeper so saving 2 of the 3 penalties made her the hero of the team. Some parents can go way over the top, my mrs spends the half hour shouting and cheering the kids at top voice and the kids love it, and the other parents just stand there laughing. but she has a passion for the kids to have fun even if they are losing whether she looks daft or not.
And thats what its all about!!:hurray::clap:

I spent many years of my life taking Miss S to competitions, right up to Commonwealth U20 level, and also ran an England U15 team for many years.

In my experience, the kids were great, the coaches were ok (mostly) and the parents were either a complete effing nightmare, or utterly delightful.
