Had the lot this week. 3 hour syphon swap, tiler that can't cut a hole round a pipe left me nothing to work with, tank swap in an attic 3 floors up parking miles away. Then to top all that did a back boiler to combi swap which took three days, just as I was giving the guy the bill the door goes, four coppers rush in and lift him for fraud or something so I never got paid so christ know what I'm going to do.

I know it's no consolation but sounds like you wouldn't have got paid for it either way.

Get back in and take out the combi and all the copper in the house. of course cap it all and make it safe aswell..

I am realy hacked off seemed like a good bloke as well. Then again he probably would given what he seems to have been up to. This was the busiest I've been for months and not a lot coming in just now up the creek again. as for taking it out wasn't really an option given the cops were there. The DI was a decent chap and had some sympathy for my plight took my details and said he would let me know if the guy gets released but he said it may not be likely so God knows what he's been up to.

Had a none to good week myself if it any consilation, starter motor went on van, then mechanic discovered it was leaking diesel, and now wheel cylinder leaking, so van been off road since wed and now i'm back to mechanics tomorrow to spend another few quid.

Hope you're able to get sorted out with your money, you never really know who you're working for, in future you could maybe get deposit or something for materials, there a thread on here the past couple days relating to pros and cons and opinions, maybe worth a look

I've had a can't of a week too. I'm getting to old for this nonesense. I'm getting to the stage where i just hate everyone and everything work related. I think i need a career change!

Just having a moan. It's an age thing that comes to everyone.
I will do this until the knees give up. (which may not be too far away). Then i may get a job as a crabby manager somewhere to see me into retirement.

Hope you get your van sorted at a reasonable price. I did start asking for deposits but found most people were really reluctant to pay it on the basis if you pay a tradesman in advance....... I used to put it on my quotes but really noticed a drop in successful quotes, in saying that it probably hasn't changed much.
