Opinions on new boiler please.

I currently have an open vented system and I am going to be replacing all the radiators and boiler. My first question is, if I am replacing all the rads do you think I should avoid flushing and adding chemicals into the system just to flush the pipes through? Currently the system flow is fine to all the rads.

The next thing is the boiler. I am torn between replacing for an ecotech plus 31kw combi or keeping the system the same and going with a Vaillant 415 o/v boiler.

I supose its personal preference but if it was your boiler what would you do?

I will need to run a new gas pipe for the combi and it will obviously be more work but that doesn't bother me its more opinions on boiler choice I am after.

Also what kw allowance do you normally make for a standard sized cylinder? I have heared so many different numbers on this?

Personally I would add some x400 a week or 2 before and definately flush the pipework/rads as u don't want anything blocking up ur sparkly new boiler/rads.
I wouldn't convert a current system into a combi unless there's a necessity to do so keep it as a system but make it a sealed system and go for the ecotec plus 6-- series most likely 615 if u think u need 15kw as the heat ex are pants on the open system boilers. Most people allow about 3kw for a standard cyl which is bout 120lts

I wouldn't give house room to a combi, stick with current cylinder and upgrade possibly upgrade to a unvented in the future.

Intergas open vent for me, straight swap.

Can't see the point changing to a system boiler might give you unnecessary problems.

Can still add a unvented cylinder in the future.
