Gascat

went out to a ferroli a few weeks ago no igniton, so i changed the igniton leads and electrode and hey presto spark but no flame, tested solenoid on gas valve and it was knackered so time for a new gas valve. changed the valve and got an igniton and flame but had intermittent crap pressure at inlet , now gas pipe was on the verge of being undersised but when i checked the working pressure regulator on the meter was poggered so i got the gas board out and got a shiny new regulator and the boiler fired up a beauty, ran for about 20 mins then locked out hmmmm,Reset it got the analyser on it, all good checked gas pressure gas rate etc all ok after an hour didnt lock out again thought ok job done. so here is where it gets interesting , next morning i was on holiday for a week. so while im away the boiler goes down again and apparrently they called anothe r guy out who was there ten minutes and fixed it but also told the landlord i was an idiot and there was no need to change any parts it was only a simple fix. thanks nice one, so now the landlord is refusing to pay. of course they wont tell me who this engineer was but they are downright refusing to pay.Not had this before so dont really know where i stand, i still have the old gas valve so can i go and put it back in and retrieve my new one ? Then perhaps the other so called engineer can go fix it

Offer to refit the old parts (even though u won't/can't do this). Tell him u want to get ur cash back for the parts and don't take kindly of being accused of deception. U know the boiler won't work if u could refit the bits and I reckon it u make a show of it the LL will know it aswell

Sounds like he might be chancing his luck. Did he try to contact you while you were on holiday?
If not then stick with your bill and chase him through the small claims court if you like.
He has to give you the opportunity to rectify any work. Only down side which may go against you is the stupid doorstep selling regs.
You can't legally go get your valve back unless he invites you in.

Thats kind of what i was thinking. really gets my goat up though. its hard enough doing what we do anyway without muppets trying to give you a bad rep. all of my work is recommendation so its flippin annoying when some muppett comes along and tries to make you look like a wrong un. Im not one of these engineers that just flips parts to make a living there really is no need, seems like this other engineer is trying to get in the LLs good books as they have a fair few properties. i will let you know how it goes.
