I need to repipe the ground floor of my flat and have finally decided to go with copper again. What is the best insulation for copper piping, so that I can ensure they do not corrode again? (my previous pipes had not been sleeved properly at all)

I can't duct the pipes everywhere because in one of the rooms, the screed is very shallow and for various reasons I wouldn't want to dig any deeper.

Is Denso tape sufficient?

One plumber suggested putting a plastic sheath underneath the pipes and then covering them with vermiculite. Would this be durable?

I've also been warned that there's a material that looks like horse hair that is sometimes used for copper pipe protection but is NOT effective in the long term.

Thanks.

You could try plastic coated copper.
