Phone call wednesday night. Boiler not working. Tells them they will have to wait till Friday, first thing.
Turned up and boilers warm. I thought the boiler wasn't working. Well it runs every now and again but no heating or hot water. Its a bungalow, boiler in utility and airing cupboard in middle of house. No pump in boiler. Opens airing cupboard to find a solar cylinder, wont go into that, sat on top of a neutraliser. 28mm gravity circs into cylinder with a 2 port valve on it. 22mm flow and return to heating, via wilo pump. 22mm flow and return from boiler tucked in behind cylinder dropping into neutraliser.
So i pull out all the kitchen cupboards looking for the pump tomcirculate the water from boiler to neutraliser. Oh no there's only the pump in the airing cupboard. Well yes there is, because, if there was'nt the system wouldn't work and the fact that I can hear it when I turn the heating pump off.
Up in the loft and under a foot of rockwool I find a 15 50. Champion, I have one in the van off a system I upgraded to fully pumped that will do the job. Power off, pump valves shut and change the head. Sorted. Bled pump, power on and hey presto.
Voice my concerns that the feed from boiler to neutraliser has no means of venting. But its running.
Gets a call at about 2 that afternoon. Are you sure you fixed it, its not working.
Called in on way home, said it will be air, up in the loft, bled the pump and whoosh it was away. Bled it a few more times.
Once again expressed my concerns that no natural or mechanical means of removing air from that loop. Oh it will be fine.
Two texts tonight. Its not working again and the pump smells like its burnt out.
Feckwits.
