Worcester 24i - No Hot Bath Water/ Drop In Pressure

Hi,

I wonder if anyone could shed any light on a problem i've got with my Combi Boiler?

Last month I moved into a small cottage with a Worcester 24i boiler. The central heating works fine, as does the kitchen/bathroom sink taps however when I attempt to run a bath I cannot get hot water for more than a couple of seconds!

The water runs and the pressure drops dramatically. Sometimes the water will trickle out almost white hot, other times it'll pour out freezing water. I have no idea where to start and i'd appreciate anyone elses experiences with this?

I can't figure out why the sinks would work fine but not the bath? The boiler is currently upstairs and, i'm guessing, fed a tank in the loft at some stage however there is nothing in place now. It seems to me the water goes upstairs to be heated and comes back down (as my bathroom/kitchen are both ground floor). I'm hoping it can be fixed as i'm not in a position to fork out for a new one! (although when i do am i right in thinking it'd be best to move it downstairs??!)

I've tried running the central heating but it's still the same and doesn't provide hot water (this worked on an old boiler in a previous house when the divertor(?!) went?).

I have a 2 year old who is currently missing her bath times so any help would be appreciated!

Hello Scotty,
presuming when you say the kitchen/bathroom sink taps are ok you mean you get hot water at these points?
if there is never a problem when running these taps and the boiler fires up to provide hot water, then the issue is with the bath tap or pipe to it.
you mention the extremes of "trickling and pouring" have you tried regulating the flow somewhere between these extremes?
if the flow is irregular to the bath tap there might be some fault/restriction to it

Thanks for the replies - i'm in no doubt i'll have to get someone out, i'm just trying to figure out whats going on for my own peace of mind as it's driving me mad!

It's impossible to regulate between the two - it runs normally then suddenly drops to a trickle. If you turn the tap even a little it returns to a heavy flow, albeit cold. Both other sinks provide hot water at a constant good pressure.
