hessyboy

hey everyone wounder if you could help.

Having problem with above boiler when using shower or opening 2 hot taps . When opening the hot tap downstairs shower starts to trickle out. The flow rate is 16 l per min at cold inlet at boiler hw draw off at boiler is only 10l per min the incoming mains pressure is suitable for the boiler anglian water have been and checked and said everything is fine. Worcester have said the boiler isnt big enough it was a 30 kw that was in so they said it needs 38kw. We now have a 38kw in the property and having the exact same problem anyone have any sugesstions?

That's how a combi works. 1 outlet boilers.
im not a believer in fitting a bigger combi will be best.

Who recommended the 38 kw ? you have an issue with with them, if you havent got enough cold main flow to your property then no Mains hot system will perform as it should .

combi boilers are only really designed to have one tap on at full flow at a time. Every tap thereafter will share the flow rate. Normally the tap with the least resistance will get the greater share of the flow rate.

whats the cold mains flow rate at the sink with the cold at another tap running? that likely to be your expected hot water flow rate when using both taps at a fixture.

also the worcesters have a flow restrictor/limiter fitted which cant be removed unless your get there permission.

worcester recommended to fit bigger boiler! There is enough cold mains going into to the property the pressure is really good. After trying it again the day after the flow rate at the boiler was 22lmin but only 10l min from hot outlet at boiler not at sink. A WHEATING worcester have said it could be the flow restrictor just waiting bk with an answer weather it can be removed cheers

If it's a warranty boiler why aren't Worcester sorting it 'hesseyboy'? Just a thought. If you're sure the flow rate is as you say I'd be asking them to attend personally ! 🙂

is there a flow restrictor in the boiler i know glowworm restrict their 24kw to 8l and the 30kw to 11litres not sure about the worcester

yes there is i believe, different flow restrictor dependant on boiler model. Worcester do not allow its removal without there permission. Only in london is it normaly allowed from what i was told at worcester training day.

Those babies are actually 40 kw on hot water, and on 22 l going in you will get around 16 -17 l out, do tell how you measuring and the EXACT places please, 10 l out something is very wrong or blocked
