zone valve stuck

Evening gents.
In a house I rent out, there's a system boiler that works fine but the heating comes on when 'water only' is selected.
I guessed zone valve, so went to have a fiddle with it. After much fiddling I'm confident it's buggered, thing is I fitted this valve about 8 years ago and had the foresight to fit one with a removable actuator 🙂
It's a 2 port Drayton ZA5 and I'd like to just replace the actuator, thing is I can't even move the manual lever, it's properly seized.
Would this suggest that the whole valve is buggered and needs replacing or could a blown actuator stop me from moving the lever?
I'm thinking whole new valve but I really can't be arissed with draining down and such. There's not much difference in price between an actuator and a whole new valve, infact I can probably get a new 2 port cheaper if I don't go for Danfoss.
If it was a customer it would be a whole new valve to be sure of fixing it in one visit, but I'm a tight git who suffers from lazyitis so want to do as little as poss.

If its your own property just replace the whole valve it'll only come back to bite you,

Sounds like its seized up, try taking the head off and turning the spindle with a pair of grips to confirm if it is

Could always freeze the pipes and chop two full bores in to save draining down,

As above, take the head off and feel for resistance. Chances are when you free it off, it'll start to weep.

Typical tight arse Landlord !! never wants to spend out on repairs, I'm sure someone on here would only be to happy to give you a price to replace it
